History:
Providence Cemetery and Church – presently a United Church – stand on over an acre of land on Lot 14, Concession I, Albion Township.

The cemetery is particularly well cared for and is still open for burials.

The church, built in 1906, is no longer used on a regular basis for services. It is plain and austere, in the style of many Methodist places of worship of its era, with very simple walls and floor-boards, a dozen plain wooden pews, and six square, undecorated coloured glass windows.

The land for this church and cemetery was donated by Mr. Finch, c.1823. The first church on the site was not erected until 1860. The people worshipped, prior to this, at Mr. Laycock’s (across the road from the present church) and later at the home of Isaac Thompson on Lot 11, Concession 2.

The graveyard is, however, perhaps the oldest in Albion Township and was the first in the township to be incorporated. The earliest recorded burial is that of Thomas Blakeny in 1825.
