The Mission of Canadian Headstones:
“To capture digital images and the complete transcription of headstones of our ancestors. As decades pass, it is becoming harder – if not impossible – to read the inscriptions these stones originally contained. By archiving the images and transcriptions, these important records are saved”.
Our apologies – until Ontario Ancestors (OGS) completes their work on updating the Canadian Headstones site, you may not be able to access the information or photos you’re looking for. 11/23/19
Starting in early 2016, the Halton-Peel Branch of Ontario Ancestors agreed to work with Canadian Headstones to get our current and future photographs of Halton and Peel gravestones on to the Canadian Headstones site. In 2017, Ontario Ancestors assumed responsibility for this valuable research tool.
The Halton-Peel Branch is grateful to all Canadian Headstones volunteers, particularly Sandra Lindsay, who have spent many hours photographing cemeteries and uploading their images. Our joint long-term goal is to ensure as many cemetery headstone photographs and transcriptions as possible from Halton and Peel Regions will be accessible via the internet.
