We’re looking forward to welcoming Catharine Wilson, PhD, F.R.S.C. University Professor Emeritus, University of Guelph and the Director of the Rural Diary Archive at the University of Guelph, who will be delivering a talk on: “Rural Diary Archives: How Diaries Uncover the Daily Lives of Rural Families”.
Everyone is welcome to tune in for the January 26th webinar – please register in advance: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0oc-GrqToiHtMaYWPzMGrhIkTecm-iJCVf and you will be sent a link.
The Rural Diary Archive website https://ruraldiaries.lib.uoguelph.ca/ – brought together by Dr. Wilson, and the University of Guelph Archives – showcases the work of over 1,250 diaries (1790-1960) across Ontario. This is an ongoing project where volunteers read, search and transcribe online diary entries about the author’s work, daily life and leisure activities. This presentation will explore several of the diaries in the collection, including some from Halton and Peel Counties. It also examines the nature of diary writing and the ways that you can use diaries for your own research.
