History:
Halfway between Rockside and McCurdy’s village, at 4th line and 5th sideroad, was once known as Greenlaw Corners. Here on 3/8 acre of land on Lot 6 Concession 5W stood a church, parsonage, and cemetery. The land was deeded by Michael Baker, an early settler, to the Trustees of Union Chapel in 1852.
It is assumed this Union Church was Presbyterian, although it may have been used by other congregations at that time. In 1865 ¼ acre and the church were sold to the Congregational Church. The Congregational Church closed around 1900 and the roughcast building was sold in 1940 and torn down. Many of the members became associated with Melville “White Church”.
Today all that is left is the cemetery. The stones have been collected and set in cement. This recording is checked to previous recordings by Perkins Bull and Wm. Britnell and when in doubt both information has been put in.
No records have been located to date. Cemetery maintained by the Town of Caledon.
