History:
The Deed of Trust governing the use of the property which states in part “….. for the erection of a place of worship or meeting house with any other buildings for the use of said Congregation …..” is recorded as Deed Number 9883, being registered on June 1 1833 and is available at the Peel Archives Brampton.

The deed specifically states: [anything may be done to increase the value of the property] “but with the express restriction and condition that no part of the said land hereby conveyed shall be appropriated for a burying ground under penalty of a forfeiture of the lands hereby conveyed …..”.

The earliest known transcription of the monuments dates from the 1930’s as prepared for historian William Perkins Bull. The Bull records were not an exact transcription, but rather a compilation of notes related to the people buried there. These notes have been incorporated where appropriated, at the end of an entry, with the prefix [PB].

J. Brian Gilchrist (as amended)

James Trotter of York gave ½ acre for a church to the trustees which included Rev. Andrew Bell. Mr. Trotter sold the rest of the land to the Moore family. A log church known as Bell’s Church was built in 1830 and, after being abandoned, was destroyed by fire around 1877. The location of the cemetery is next to where the church was once located. It is now surrounded on three sides by the Pearson International Airport.
